DIY Exploding Box!

Hey guys! Last week, as I was rummaging YouTube and Pinterest, I decided to make a do-it-yourself Exploding Box because I think it would be a cool gift. You see… it’s my M.U./special someone’s birthday, and instead of a material thing this year, I wanna make an effort with love!

I don’t know if it’s a little corny for a guy, but I asked him a while back if he’s okay with receiving DIY stuff. I was a little surprised because he actually loves those things *phew!*. But still, a teenage girl could be somewhat nervous, right?

It was my first time doing this, and I also do not have the perfect materials at home. So, improvise it was! I’m also not that skilled, so please bear with me (but hey, it’s the thought that counts, right?). A huge thanks to Brasel Seng for her awesome tutorial on this one.

Here’s my recreation:

It’s a little funny because the second layer doesn’t stay like a 45 degree angle, but anyway what’s done is done. I guess I would have to try harder next time (if there ever would be)!

I also documented the steps just for memories’ sake… but I think it would be better if I would share it to you, guys!

To start:

Now, these are the bits and pieces:

  • The slider card
  • The pop-up slider card
  • The landscape waterfall card
  • The portrait waterfall card
  • The double slider card
  • The sweetheart message card
  • The 6-square section folded card
  • The finishing touches

There you have it! If you are interested in making a recreation, just head over to this link. Brasel Seng has a full tutorial for it, and for other DIY stuff, too!

As I was typing this post, it’s now past 12 a.m. on January 3 and it’s now his birthday! I’m on Facebook chatting with him, though. I REALLY HOPE HE’LL LIKE IT (EVEN SLIGHTLY). Anyway, gotta sleep now! Gotta go out tomorrow with our circle of friends. Thanks for reading!

    1. Yay, go for it! I was quite nervous, too when I first thought about doing it. But been there, done that, and it’s a good way to demonstrate how special the receiver is to you so I’m sure he’ll love it!

Thanks for checking out my blog. I just told the local printing store to size my photos to 2×3 in. That’s pretty much it!
